Research project

Quantifying olfactory dysfunction on neurodegenerative diseases

Neurotech Leuven serves as a platform to connect individuals who share a passion for neurotechnology, including students, researchers, and research labs.
Together, we collaborate on compelling projects, such as one focused on quantifying olfactory dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases.

This project aims to investigate the mechanisms underlying olfactory dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases and assess the feasibility of using portable functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) and/or EEG as tools for quantifying olfactory dysfunction. The ultimate objective is to contribute towards the design of a medical platform capable of serving as a screening tool for the early detection of brain diseases.

In this endeavor, a team consisting of four students and three PhD researchers will combine their expertise to conduct thorough research and drive innovation forward.
