Our Story
Neurotech Leuven grew from a shared belief that the future of neurotechnology should not be locked away in labs or accessible only to experts. When Anthony Vorias noticed how few opportunities students had to meaningfully engage with cutting‑edge neurotech, he set out to build a space where curiosity, engineering, and neuroscience could meet. Supported early on by researchers like Jonah Van Assche and Frederic Vanderveken, the initiative quickly evolved into more than a project team—it became a community driven by the desire to create assistive technologies, explore novel interfaces, and make neurotech approachable for students across disciplines.
As the organization grew, leaders like Rochelle Aubry helped solidify this mission by expanding our projects beyond competitions and into real, purpose‑driven research. Today, Neurotech Leuven has become a vibrant student‑led ecosystem where interdisciplinary teams build tools ranging from brain‑computer interfaces to diagnostic devices, while events like our flagship Mindseed conference bring together hundreds of enthusiasts each year. What began as an ambitious student idea has transformed into a collaborative hub that connects research, technology, and community—empowering students to shape the future of neurotechnology from Leuven outward.
